Brynderwen sits amongst rural and forest covered lands, which gives miles of tracks, trails, byways and lanes to explore. In any direction we can point you to something special to ride. The Black Mountains, Brechfa forest, Cwm Rhaeader and Bike Park Wales are just a few places for you to discover.
Road or trail orientated there are more Strava sections than one person could ever do!!!
For trail time fun there is every grade of colour to try out at Brechfa. The Raven is a black long route and there is also the popular Gorlech Red route.
I'd also recommend Rowen Sorrel's Cwm Rhaeadr red route. There is one route which takes only 30-40 minutes round, but I bet you won't leave only going round once. From the top of the route there are panoramic views of the forest and a vast area to exlpore in Rhandirmwyn valleys beyond.
Straight out of the gate for the roadie is the official 100 climbs No 95 Black Mountain Pass. A bit more than a warm up but the views are worth the effort for sure. Check in on Strava for full loops to suit.
For a local trail Pen Arthur wood is 1 mile away and offers fun fast fire roads.
With some map reading through green lanes you can head out to Lyn y Fan Fach, which is my go to ride. You will discover an amazing lake and cliffs out in the Black Mountains and from there you can explore off piste the real remoteness of the Brecon Beacons.
If you're looking for uplifts and are serious about riding down hill, then look no further than Bike Park Wales. There are more runs than I could list but Popty Ping has to be a favourite.
There is also a well stocked bike shop and cafe with cake!!!
Brechfa Forest is a short 30 minute drive away and offers several different routes for different levels of rider. The Gorlech Trail is a good well rounded trail around 19km long. More advanced riders may choose to check out the black graded Raven Trail! While the Derwen Trail is a good starting point for families and novices and a great introduction to mountain biking.
Visit the Brechfa Website for more information on the trails, the facilities and routes to get to there.
There are several bike trails in the area, please feel free to ask and we can point out others in the area you can visit.
